For this project, you will work in groups of two to research
a specific phylum or class within the animal kingdom and design a web page
that will be published on the Internet. You will be graded on both your scientific
research recorded in your notebook and your groups final web site.
Your group's scientific
notebook must include:
Date information was gathered.
Title of web page or book.
URL of web page or publication information
Notes taken from web page or book.
If pictures or graphics were copied onto your computer,
include a brief explanation of the picture and the name of the file you
saved it as.
An outline laying out the design of your project. (This

On your web site you will:
Identify a minimum of five major characteristics of your
phylum or class.
Identify three different species of organisms within your
phylum or class.
For two of your species, you will have to do briefly describe
each of their habitats and niche.
The remaining example will be what I refer to as your
focus species. For the focus species you will:
Make a taxonomic outline.
Explain its habitat in detail. This section should
include a description of the nonliving things that make up the species
ecosystem. You may describe a biome or a more specific ecosystem.
Explain in detail its characteristics and niche. When
explaining its niche, be sure to include its behavior characteristics,
feeding preferences and any symbiotic or predator prey relationships.
Make a food web including the focus species and at
least 10 other species.
- Choose one of the following topics: its relevance to humans, endangered
species, mythological lore.
If your project is a website, it must include:
All of the above content
A home page
Links to pages within your web site
